ADAMEC CRANES WINS PRESTIGIOUS BRIDGE CRANE CONTRACT FOR TEMELÍN NUCLEAR POWER PLANT

In 2009 Adamec Cranes, Ltd participated in an international tender for the supply of high load bridge cranes for the storage of spent fuel in the Temelin nuclear power plant in southern Czech Republic. From a wide pool of major Czech and foreign applicants, Adamec Cranes was selected as sole supplier of bridge cranes for this key building of considerable economic and strategic importance.

The deal involves the delivery of a total of three high load bridge cranes. To receive containers from the railroad spur, we are installing a bridge crane with a capacity of 160 tons and a span of 21.7m, together with a 10-ton capacity auxiliary lift. To handle the containers at the warehouse, we are supplying two bridge traveling cranes with a 130-ton deadweight capacity and 19.2 m span, complete with a 10-ton capacity auxiliary lift.

The cranes are controlled from air-conditioned cabins or alternatively by remote control. In order to achieve the required accuracy during the positioning and handling of loads, the cranes are equipped with positioning detectors. Special semi-automatic tongs used for manipulating the containers are attached to the hooks.

One important and very progressive technical innovation is the production of non-standard, special box-beam bridges which result in a lower weight of the bridge construction itself. The box profiles are designed with box transversal and longitudinal reinforcements. These reinforcements ensure that the walls possess exceptional rigidity and dimensional stability.

The 160-ton capacity crane is currently being assembled and will be put into operation in February of this year. The two further 130-ton capacity bridge cranes will be gradually put into operation in late February and late March 2010.
